🛑 How to Fix a Disabled Facebook Ad Account
If your Facebook ad account gets disabled, don’t panic — it’s usually fixable. The key is to find out the reason and follow Facebook’s steps to resolve it. Here’s how to troubleshoot it quickly.
🔍 Fix A Disabled Facebook Ad Account
Click on your Business Manager (if you have multiple, otherwise it will just pull yours up)
On the left menu, select Ad Accounts
Find the disabled ad account
Click See Details
Facebook will redirect you to a page that explains why your account was disabled and will provide instructions on how to fix it.
✅ The sooner you address the issue, the better your chances of getting it reinstated.
Don't Have A Business Manager? If you don't have a Business Manager, you can go directly to https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager and choose your ad account. You'll see a banner at the top stating your issue with a button redirecting you on where to go to fix it.
🔁 Common Reasons Ad Accounts Get Disabled (and How to Fix Them)
1️⃣ No Payment Method on File
If you're running ads without a payment method added, Facebook may disable your account.
Fix: Add a valid payment method immediately by going to https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager.
Select your ad account at the top and then choose the credit card icon option on the left side menu.
Then choose the option "Payment Methods". That will pull up the option to add a payment method onto your account. Select "Add Payment Method" and follow the prompts to add a new payment method to your account.
2️⃣ Payment Failed or Card Declined
If your card expires or your bank blocks charges, Facebook cannot process payments and may disable your account.
Fix:
Call your bank and let them know that you approve the Facebook charges
Once the bank approves,
Then manually go and process the payment in your Facebook ad account by going to https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager.
Select your ad account
Select the credit card icon on the left side menu
Select "Payment Activity" and then select "Payment Settings"
You'll then see an option to push the payment through manually. Push it through manually, and your ad account should be active again.
3️⃣ Policy Violations or Restricted Ads
Facebook may disable accounts that break advertising policies (even by mistake).
Fix:
Review the policies shown in the “See Details” section
Edit or remove any ads that violate guidelines
Submit an appeal if you believe it’s an error
4️⃣ New Ad Account “Trust” Issues
New accounts must build trust with Facebook. Launching too many ads too quickly can trigger a shutdown.
Best Practices for New Ad Accounts:
Run only one ad for the first 30 days
If that ad is doing poorly, you can turn it off and run a new one. The main idea is to only have one ad running at a time.
Let it build payment history and consistency
Don't launch multiple campaigns at once
AFTER 30 DAYS you can run as many ads at once as you'd like.
🧊 What Is “Warming Up” an Ad Account?
When an ad account is new, Facebook:
Charges small amounts frequently (like $1–$5) to test your payment method
May limit your daily spend (even if you set it higher). EX: If you have your daily budget set to $50/day, FB may only spend $20 of that budget for a time.
Facebook will control your daily ad spend limits and your frequency charges. After your account builds trust, it will automatically remove or slowly lift these restrictions.
🕒 After about 30 days of consistent ad activity and successful payments, Facebook lifts most restrictions.
Why does FB do this? To prevent fraudulent ad accounts from spending a lot on ad spend, and then never paying FB back. FB puts these training wheels on so it knows it can trust your new ad account.
⏳ Can I Get a Disabled Account Back?
Yes — if you act quickly.
Older disabled accounts are harder to restore, so always act quickly and fix issues right away.
